THE NORTHERN SESSION COLLECTIVE WAS SET UP IN 2018 BY ISABELLA BAKER, A VIOLINIST STUDYING AT THE ROYAL NORTHERN COLLEGE OF MUSIC IN MANCHESTER, WITH THE GOAL OF BRINGING TOGETHER A TEAM OF LIKE-MINDED MUSICIANS THAT WANT TO PUSH THE BOUNDARIES OF MUSICAL GENRE. OUR AIM IS TO ENCOURAGE COLLABORATION BETWEEN ARTISTS & SESSION PLAYERS IN THE NORTH-WEST OF ENGLAND AND BEYOND, TAKING AN OPEN AND APPROACHABLE STANCE IN WHAT IS A COMPETITIVE WORLD.
BASED IN MANCHESTER, MOST OF OUR MUSICIANS ARE ALUMNI OF THE ROYAL NORTHERN COLLEGE OF MUSIC, AND HAVE ALL RECEIVED HIGH-LEVEL TRAINING FROM PROFESSIONALS IN THE JAZZ, POPULAR MUSIC & CLASSICAL WORLDS. EACH OF OUR MEMBERS HAVE A VAST AMOUNT OF EXPERIENCE IN MULTIPLE MUSICAL SETTINGS, BOTH LOCALLY AND INTERNATIONALLY, BRINGING UNIQUE SKILLS TO THE COLLECTIVE.
